TYoaBM[2] – The History of the Rose Croix

This evening I visited Cambria Chapter Rose Croix for the first time ever.

An email had gone out to all the Chapters in the District informing everyone about the meeting, and that the Inspector General was going to be giving a talk on the history of the order.  Three of us (The normal terrible trio of Nev, Hugh and Myself) decided we wanted to go to support the Inspector General, since he had supported us and Blood Bikes so much, and this is his last year in the office.

So we set off early to sunny Rhyl. We actually set off way too early since we were the first ones there, we were later joined by some other visitors who had equally gotten there too early. So it was time for a chat in the bar while waiting. The meeting was interesting, it seem many of the Craft Provincial officers are members of that Chapter, so it was great to catch up with so many people. The talk was very interesting, and I now need to get my hands on a copy to read and study some more.

The festive board  was exceptional. Ian always does good food, and the MWS had added a cheese course for everyone, and two members had gotten wine for all (I lost count how many times my glass was topped up over the evening). Then another had sent some port around.

It was a great evening out. I would recommend people to visit them.

The Ancient and Accepted Rite (Rose Croix)

The Ancient and Accepted Rite originated in France in 1754 and worked in the USA where a Supreme Council was formed in 1801.

The Supreme Council for England and Wales was established in 1845 under a patent from the Supreme Council of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America. The Rite consists of its own 33 Degrees entirely separate and distinct from any other Order.

The three Craft Degrees are accepted as equivalent to the first 3 Degrees of this Rite. Candidates for Perfection are taken from the 4º to 17º Degrees by name only, prior to being made Excellent and Perfect Princes Rose Croix in a detailed and beautiful 18º Degree ceremony. This is the only degree permitted to be worked in a private Rose Croix Chapter. Degrees above the 18º are awarded on merit after a brother has passed the Chair of his Chapter.
