This evening was the Valle Crucis Chapter’s Rehearsal.
On Friday, we have an enthronement where we put a new person into the chair. The rehearsals went well. OK 40% rehearsing, and 60% gossiping, which is good for a bunch of Masons.
Now the person going into the chair was not there, since he has moved away and it is a 2+ hour drive for him to get here, so we were not expecting him. Towards the end of the night, someone joked “So Len is down on Friday right?” we all laughed, and one person decided to phone Len and check he was all ok for the night, and did he have any questions.
It was a good job he did, it turns out not only did Len not know the meeting was this Friday (ie in 2 days) but he did not know he was going into the chair. (Is it time to panic yet?)
Our Recorder has been unwell, and is stepping down this year to deal with recovery so things have apparently been missed. Friday should be interesting.

The Ancient and Accepted Rite (Rose Croix)
The Ancient and Accepted Rite originated in France in 1754 and worked in the USA where a Supreme Council was formed in 1801.
The Supreme Council for England and Wales was established in 1845 under a patent from the Supreme Council of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America. The Rite consists of its own 33 Degrees entirely separate and distinct from any other Order.
The three Craft Degrees are accepted as equivalent to the first 3 Degrees of this Rite. Candidates for Perfection are taken from the 4º to 17º Degrees by name only, prior to being made Excellent and Perfect Princes Rose Croix in a detailed and beautiful 18º Degree ceremony. This is the only degree permitted to be worked in a private Rose Croix Chapter. Degrees above the 18º are awarded on merit after a brother has passed the Chair of his Chapter.
