This evening I had a little trip out to the coast out by Colwyn Bay to visit Dinorben Lodge for the first time.

I had been booked to give a talk on behalf of the North Wales Association of Masonic Study (NWAMS). The NWAMS was formed 60 years ago for the purposes of nurturing and fostering Masonic research through the dissemina-tion of Masonic Knowledge throughout the Province particularly as regards symbolism, history and esoteric meaning. The Association achieves this through its team of approved Lecturers and by supporting re-search by individuals or groups. I have been an approved NWAMS Lecturer since 2021, although I have been giving talks to Lodges since 2017,

The talk the Lodge had selected this time was titled “Widows Sons – Outlaw Bikers or Masonic Ambassadors”, which was a bit of a coincidence since last month my book of the same name was the Number one Freemasonry book on the UK and US Amazons.

It was a very enjoyable meeting in what has to be the largest Lodge room in North Wales, followed by a lovely meal at the local cricket club.

The Widows Sons are quite simply a motorcycle-riding club. We are a non-brand specific riding Association so no matter what brand of motorcycle you ride, so long as you are a Master Mason in good standing you are welcome as a member.

We also have associate membership open to non-riding Masons. We are an internationally based group of independent Masons who have joined together to simply share the thrill of riding with other members of our fraternity.

We are not a 1% club. We are just a social riding club, which happens to have set one of its membership requirements to include being a Master Mason in good standing.

I have spent the last few years traveling around the Province of North Wales (and Cheshire) giving various talks on the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association. I have even had articles on the subject published in two editions of the Square Masonic Magazine.

I am also known on Social Media as a Widows Son, and a founder of the North Wales Chapter, which is how I got pulled into a conversation that was happening on Twitter where the merits of the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers/Riders Association was called into question. The main issue was how can leather clad bikers be a good advertisement for Freemasonry, unfortunately the person who was the main opponent know of no members he could talk to and find out more.

I therefore decided to convert one of the talks I have given in Masonic Lodges across the UK into a small book to hopefully answer some questions.

And today that book “Widows Sons: Outlaw Bikers or Masonic Ambassadors” was published.

This evening I attended Wynnstay Lodge No 3876 to give my  last “Widows Sons Talk” of the year.

It was a very enjoyable evening and the Brethren of Wynnstay Lodge donated the proceeds of the Lodge Collect & Festive Board Raffle (Which amounted to £196) to Blood Bikes Wales.

To complete the evening I even won the raffle.

This evening I attended The North Wales Lodge of Installed Masters No 8615 on Anglesey to present a talk on the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association.

Because this was an Installed Masters Lodge, and all they do is have speakers come along and give talks, I decided I needed to up my game. I therefore wrote a new talk on the Widows Sons.

This new talk was :-

“An introduction to the history of the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association, and an explanation of how they promote Freemasonry, help the community, do charitable work, all whilst just doing what they love”

The weather was torrential rain (Well it was on Anglesey) but it was a very enjoyable evening. And in appreciation of the talk the members of the North Wales Lodge of I.M. voted to donate the money from the Festive Board’s raffle to a Charity of the my choice.

The raffle raised £172 which was donated to Blood Bikes Wales in the Lodges name.

This evening was the meeting of Wynnstay Chapter No 3876.

They had an official visit from the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, 2nd & 3rd Provincial Grand Principals and the full Provincial Team, and many visitors. So they asked me if I could turn up and give my talk on “The Widows Sons – Outlaw Bikers or Ambassadors of Freemasonry” 

This means I have now given a talk to both the Old Provincial Grand Master, and the new one. This is not bad considering I have not long started giving talks.

I have had an article published in the Square Masonic Magazine.

Pip the editor asked me to do a piece on the Widows Sons Masonic Association to mark their 15th anniversary (in the UK) for the current (June) issue of The Square Magazine.

And I can never say no to a Lady, so I put pen to paper (Which sounds so much better than finger to keyboard) and wrote her an article.

Look at me crossing off entries on the old Bucket List.

In appreciation of the talk the members of Kenyon Lodge  voted to donate the money from the Festive Board’s raffle to a Charity of the guest Speakers choice.
