OK, New things :-

1. Became a member of the Third Order of the S.R.I.A.
2. Was asked to professionally edit an authors books.
3. Got a none-active Provincial promotion.
4. Organised a Provincial AGM.
5. Decided to step back from Craft & Royal Arch Masonry in North Wales.

I just went back to last years “The Year That Was” post to double check, and it seems I did not pick either a challenge or resolutions for 2025.

I did continue 2024’s challenge and continued updating my website and I published the second NWAMS book.

For 2026, I would like to get another of my website projects completed, and a few more things published. 

My overall plans for 2026 are to get healthier and be a lot more productive.

My youngest nephew had his first child this year.

Alas my good friends father passed to the Grand Lodge above. Mr Maguire was an excellent person and will be missed by many.

A cousin of mine died this year, the poor bloke was found dead after neighbours had realised no one had seen him in a while.

Also a very old Internet Friend/Spod passed away way to young. Laz was the first “Internet Friend” I went away to go visit, and those adventures led to the RLF, and many great times.

The normal, mainland UK ones.

I did pop over to Anglesey, which I count as its own country. 

I would like to have hope and a plan! And for the rot in Freemasonry to start to heal.

Oh, and an end of this Labour government!

Being advanced into the Third order of the SRIA. It was a great honour, the Province of Western Counties and North Wales only had one person they could put forward in 2025 for advancement. I was greatly honoured to be that person.

Letting the corruption and general decline in Masonry affect me as much as it did.

I managed to survive the whole year with nothing worse than a cold.

I did get a small papercut at one point, but that does not really count as it was nowhere bad.

I do not believe in one-night stands. How can you tell if you realy like something unless you try it at least a couple of times?

The last few years I have answered along the lines of “You know what? NO! I do not believe I hate anyone this year that I did not hate previously. Maybe I am growing as a person, becoming more enlightened? Or is everyone already on THE LIST”.

Well this year thanks to several knives sticking out of my back, there are actually some new names on the LIST!

This is always a very hard question. According to Goodreads I have read about 100 books this year. Trying to pick the best of that lot is not going to be easy.

But if you are going to hold a gun to my head and force me to answer, I will say “Look! a Squirrel!!” and drop a smoke bomb and vanish like a ninja. there were just too many good books this year to pick a favourite.

Ok. I admit it, I may have a book problem.

2025 has been a year without music, not on purpose it has just been one of those years where I’ve not really listened to any music. 

In fact., sitting here trying to think of any new musical discoveries, I realise most the music I have heard this year are songs by Scanlan Shorthalt.

This has been a very odd year. I do not think there was anything I really wanted to have, that I actually got.

Don’t get me wrong, there was many things I got this year that were fantastic, but they were unexpected, or out of the blue. There was nothing that I really wanted, and just got.

Freemasonry in North Wales not to go down the route of corruption, and toadyism . There is a rot, that started when the Maesgwyn was forced out of the Masons hands and damaged local Masonry, and it is now spreading across the Province. And all from the same source.

Less corruption in Freemasonry. It is ruining a institution that had stood the test of ages, but is now looking very tarnished.

Oh, and warmth! It has been a very wet and cold year here in Wales. I have forgotten what warmth and sun is like.

My personal fashion does not change much, especially since the days of Covid when we moved to work from home. This means during the workday I am at home and can dress for comfort since I am not out in public.

Therefore as in previous years, I have mostly been wearing Cargo Pants (I like the extra pockets) and Jumpers (Thick jumpers due to the lack of warmth in Wales).

Oh and suits, because suits are awesome…… True story

I think the Sunday Night Beer Chat has done a lot to keep me sane, and save lives!

I recently started watching the TV show “Shifting Gears”, and since I am enjoying the comedy of Kat Dennings, I figured I needed to watch “2 Broke Girls”.

I ended up binge watching the whole series. And since I have always had a weak spot for tough, sarcastic ladies, how could I not end up fancying Max Black!

The state of the UK.

We have a party in power that had a very low percentage of the UK vote for them, and they are opening the borders to mass illegal immigration. They are upping taxes, banning free refills, business are closing down down, They are looking to make our roads thinner to prevent cars overtaking cyclists. All this while every one of the main people are constantly apologising for breaking the law. Dangerous criminals are being let out of prison (sometimes they just walk out) to make room for all the people being jailed for posting things online that the Party does not approve of.

Not to mention blocking the internet to everything unless you hand your personal details (passport, bank details, etc) to foreign countries to prove you are over 13 (UK passport details have already been leaked online). They are bringing in mandatory Digital ID cards. You can get visits from the thought police in the middle of the night to talk about mean tweets or comments you make online.

Every weekend there are protests and riots from one group or another, I believe the UK is being led into a civil war. If not we will head into a party led dictatorship worse than North Korea.

OK, New things :-

1. Wrote the Forward for a book (Robert Lomas – Daniel Owen’s The Township).
2. Won the CQ paper writing competition.
3. Became the Provincial Assistant Mentor in Chapter as well as Craft.
4. Took an office in Wrexhamian Chapter (Joshua)
5. Became a senior Provincial Officer (Provincial Secretary in SRIA)

Last year I challenged myself to get at least one of the NWAMS books published and available to buy, and get my website updated.

I did publish book 1 “The Rise of Freemasonry in the Province of North Wales” which can be ordered from Amazon. And I have updated my Website, and have started moving all the multiple sites to the new main one wayne-owens.uk

I have not yes come up with a challenge for 2025.

No births at all this year that I am aware of.

It has been a bad year for Masons.

There seems to have been a fair number of Masons that I know who passed away this year.

The normal, mainland UK ones.

I did pop over to Anglesey, and that should count as its own country.

The people who voted our current government in, that in the few months they have been in power have broken every election promise. Have stabbed business’s, pensioners, students, working people, in the back. Have freed thousands of murderers, rapists, and violent people early from prisons to make room for all the people they are having arrested for posting opinions on social media that go against the “Party Line” Russia has about 400 arrests this year for people speaking their minds, the UK is over 4000.  The world is looking at the UK the way we used to look at Russia and North Korea. They are planning to go against the vote of the people and reverse Brexit and make it so we can never leave the EU again.

And because the hatred for the government is so high, they are planning to cancel all the upcoming council elections to prevent the losses they will have.

It is a hard choice this year. I have been rewatching Critical Roll, and the Legend of Vox Machina.

The General Election!

For years now we have had Labour supporters saying everything wrong in the world is the fault of the Conservatives, and that if Labour was in power we would all be in a utopia.  Then due to record low turnouts of voters, Labour had gotten into power with a massive majority.

And they instantly break every election promise they made, they attacked the pensioners putting them at risk due to removing the winter fuel allowance. They are looking to tax cars off the road, tax working people, remove the single person relief on house tax’s. Basically bankrupting every working or retired British person, so that they can fund massive pay rises for the unions, and spend billions a day putting the illegal immigrants in nice hotel rooms.

Then they released all the sexual and violent offenders from prison so they had room to lock up all the people who speak bad of labour on social media. 

And as for sleaze, the new Labour PM has had more gifts for favours then the last 5 Conservative PM’s combined. And pays less tax than any of them.

It would have been nice if the people voting Labour had taken a look at Wales before voting. We have only ever had Labour in charge and we have the worst Healthcare (even though we get more money that the other home nations), Worst Education, Worst Roads, Worst public Transport, Lower speeds than the UK, More expensive alcohol, Tourist Tax. Wales is the worst in the UK. Well now the rest of you are under Labour Rule I guess you will soon be the same as us.

2023 was a fantastic year in relation to writing.

I finished writing a talk “The True Masonic Church” and even presented it several times.

My book “Widows Sons – Outlaw Bikers or Masonic Ambassadors” was the best selling masonic book in both the UK and USA on two different occasions. Ok, It was only an Amazon bestseller, but I am still proud.

The first of the NWAMS books that I am redoing is almost finished and should be released early 2024.

My Masonic year of 2023 was an interesting one. At the start of the year I installed my last successor into the chair and was not in any chair of any order for the first time in 6 years. I was also not on the progression ladder anywhere for the first time since I joined Freemasonry in 2006. I really enjoyed my retirement for the 10 weeks it lasted. I agreed to go into the chair of Clwyd College SRIA to help them out. I enjoyed my retirement while it lasted.

I also gave 4 talks on behalf of the North Wales Association of Masonic Study, along with 4 Blood Bikes talks to various Lodges.

In total, during 2023 I attended 49 masonic meetings (14 of which were visits) across 20 Masonic Halls. I ended they year on the new Masonic season which looks to be a busy one. I have therefore decided to record the year in a series of Blog posts The Year of a Busy Mason.

2023 has been a great year in relation to Blood Bikes Wales. I’ve been out and about all year long giving talks and presentations to various groups including :- Women’s Institute, Ladies Groups, Church Groups, Masonic Organisations, etc. 

From various talks we were able to raise over £15,000 which was a very good amount. I would like to thank everyone who has helped out over the year. 

OK, New things :-

1. Became an Amazon Bestselling Masonic Author in both the UK & USA at same time.
2. Got my first Speaking booking from the N.W.A.M.S.
3. Visited an Athol Lodge for the first time.
4. Had a role in the Opening/Closing of the Provincial Chapter Meeting.
5. Gave the First talk on St Edmunds.

I gave up on resolutions many years back as I never seem able to stick to them.

Although I am challenging myself for 2024 to get at least one of the NWAMS books published and available to buy, and get my website updated.

For 2024 I have two things I would like to have.

1. 14th January – My first visit to an Athol Lodge to see a good friend go in the chair.
2. 7th October – Being part of the opening/closing of Provincial Grand Chapter.
3. 18th November – My book hitting #1 in Freemasonry around the world.

Noticing my phone going nuts during a rehearsals meeting, and checking it to find out my book on the Widows Sons was going nuts online, with people around the world mass buying it pushing it up the charts.

The funniest part was seeing people discussing it on Facebook groups I am a member of, and strangers claiming to know the author.

Not getting my website updated as I had planned.

Nothing, other than colds and the odd accidental paper cut.

This year there are 2.

Firstly the fact the Welsh NHS is falling apart and yet our Welsh Government have wasted millions on reducing the 30mph national limit down to 20, which is causing businesses to close, villages to be cut off from public transport. They have wasted even more changing the areas of Wales to split up areas that voted against Labour and created 18 new areas, so that they can stay in power at the next election.

And even worse than that was the Wrexham Local Development Plan. Wrexham councillor’s voted against the suggested Labour Government plan to build 1000s of homes on green areas with no infrastructure. So the Welsh Labour Government said “You voted wrong. Do it again!” so Wrexham had another vote and again voted against the plan. So the Welsh Labour Government said “You voted wrong. Do it correctly”. And after the vote was against it again, the Welsh Labour Government said “You did it wrong. Do it one last time! Oh and anyone who votes against it will be fines £10000’s and sent to jail!”.  

There is no democracy in Wales.

2020 was 2.5 months long.

The rest of the year has been basically a lockdown, with hordes of plague spreaders all over the place. Everything is closed, and nothing can be done. I am therefore counting this whole year a bust.

Nobody. Well that I know about. I have not seen anyone since March 13th.

But since everyone on the planet is locked inside their houses and everywhere is closed, I expect the amount of babies next year will be astronomical.

There is a Global Pandemic, all travel is banned. The only time I am legally allowed to go out the house is if I am going to collect food from a supermarket, and that was mostly click and collect.

Surviving Covid.  This area has a very high infected rate.

You know what? NO! I do not believe I hate anyone this year that I did not hate previously. Maybe I am growing as a person, becoming more enlightened? Or is everyone already on THE LIST.

This is always a very hard question. According to Goodreads I have read about 155 books this year. Trying to pick the best of that lot is not going to be easy. But if I had to pick just one book, arrgghghh.

Well there is :-

• The Rosslyn Hoax? by Robert L.D. Cooper.
• Siege of Stone by Terry Goodkind.

I also liked the recent books in the Series’ “The Temple Chronicles”, “Dragon Blood”.

Sister Antics

Nashville based, Southern Rock/Americana Sister Antics aren’t really sisters. Anne-Marie Kelbon and Vivian Nicastro are friends who met in New York through their shared passion for motorcycles. Discovering their other shared passion was music, they teamed up and were co-writing at the end of 2015. Kelbon and Nicastro quickly discovered their sound which they describe as a “southern rock blend of rock and roll, country, and blues.”.

I think, Good Friends, Good Books, and the fact I was never very sane to start off with, so there is not that much to keep hold of.

This year is basically the same thing as last two years. he same screaming angry Nazi fascists who believe their echo-chambers and scream death threats against everyone who is different to them, or who does not think 100% the same as them. 

Take Brexit, the country voted for it yet the Left state no one wants it. We had EU elections and the Left stated 100% no one wanted Brexit and yet the Brexit party ended up as biggest party elected. Then we had a General election where again the Left stated no one would vote Tory, and yet they won the biggest landslide in decades, and Labor strongholds that have been Labor for 100s of years switched. And still the Left state no one wants Brexit or the Tories.

We were wrong guys. 1984 does not come from the far right trying to take over, but from the far left trying to reduce everyone to the same as them.

Mulder was correct. Trust no one.

3. Went into the Chair of my collage (S.R.I.A.)
4. Was Part of the Procession in the Provincial Meeting to install a new PGM.
5. Saw the Installation Ceremony of a Provincial Grand Master
6. Was Part of the Procession in the Provincial AGM Meeting.
7. Visited an Anglesey Lodge.
8. Gave a Talk in a Lodge during a PGM Visit
9. Gave a Talk in a Lodge in a different Province.
10. Ran a stall at the LlanBikeFest as the Widows Sons
11. Was part of the Chain for a PGM’s last visit before retiring
12. Was part of the Chain for a PGM’s first ever meeting.
13. Visited Several New Masonic Halls.
14. Became a Blood Bike Controller.

I gave up on resolutions many years back as I never stuck to them, whereas my competitive nature makes me stick to challenges. So for the last few years I have had a yearly challenge

This year I failed miserably with everything apart from the Goodreads reading challenge.

It was a busy year as I was acting Steward and with the PGM Retiring he wanted to visit lots of Lodges, so I was out with the team lots. Plus I visited Lodges in two Provinces to give Talks on the Widows Sons, Started as a Blood Bikes Controller for Blood Bikes Wales, So I am writing off 2018, and look forward to the challenges of 2019.

None that I can think off.

A few Masonic Friends passed away this year.

And Anglesey. I figure Anglesey should be counted as its own country, for it is a strange place.

In 2019 I would like to find where my get-up-and-go got up and went, reclaim it and be super Productive. I plan to get my charity book published, update a couple of websites, along with several other projects. And I give permission for people to poke me with sharp sticks if they spot me being too unproductive.

The laziness and apathy of the last few years needs to end.

1. 12th June – My first shift as a Blood Bike Wales Controller
2. 31st October – Being appointed Provincial Grand Steward in the Royal Arch
3. 12th November – Giving a Talk at an Installed Masters Lodge.

OK I will go with “Revolutionary Ride: On the Road in Search of the Real Iran”.  The story of one woman who took a solo motorcycle trip around Iran where women are not allowed to drive cars, let alone ride bikes, and should always be accompanied, and that is before you take into account she was a westerner.

I don’t think any one celebratory really stood out this year.

It was a poor year for crushes.

There was two this year, but they are basically the same thing.

Brexit! We had the vote, and the Leave group won. And from the second they won the remain lot started screaming that only racist idiots would vote to leave, and their votes should not count. They have tried dozens of petitions, legal campaigns, and everything to go against the winning vote on the grounds that anyone who disagreed with them is too stupid to be allowed a vote. This loud insulting of anyone with a different view started in the run up to the vote.

American Presidential Election. Again, the loosing side started legal means to get the vote changed, they tried forcing the electoral collage to break the law to make the loosing candidate be the winner. There was even rioting on the streets and such. and plans to prevent it from happening.

I am not saying the right outcome was won on either of those votes, but it is the minority who lost and just insult and threaten anyone who thinks differently that has annoyed me the most. You can no longer discuss or debate things, you either agree 100% with the special snowflakes or you are evil racist scum with an IQ of a carrot. And their yells of we must protect democracy by going with the loosing vote. errrr?

I am not sure, I guess I would probably have to go with some of the Masonic people I have started working closely with since becoming the Provincial Webmaster. There are some insane, funny people among them.

2. Got on the Ladder in Rose Croix (Captain of the Guard).
3. Got Installed as 2nd Principle in Chapter.

The first two I did and stuck too, but the third failed due to external problems. But as my friend MeatLoaf says “two out of three ain’t bad!”  Next year I am again doing a threefold challenge, very similar to this years. 100 days, Write 4 papers, Do a unique piece of artwork.

I was going to answer Yes, PlanetPete to this question. Then I realised he only gave birth by proxie.

So instead I shall adjust my answer slightly to be, Yes, Mrs PlanetPete AKA H. She gave birth to the MicroMagoo Callum, who I get the honour of being his Godfather.

We are finally getting a new Star Wars film that has nothing to do with Lucas so hopefully it will not be as bad as the Prequels, or as annoying as the Remastered versions.

For some reason this song got played 300% more often than any other song during my morning commutes when I listen to the radio. Also I lost count the number of times I saw the video on someone’s TV. (Is it just me or is the Video just the film “The Craft” condensed into 3:45 minutes?).

The character Kenzi from the TV Series “Lost Girl” I worked my way through all five seasons in December, and have overdosed on her a bit.  I just love her attitude, style, and her love of dressing up with different wigs to have many different appearance’s. And her eyes.

It’s not really a “political issue” but it is politics so it counts!. 

We had a General Election this year. and the Conservatives won. Almost instantly all the Labour supporters started screaming that no one in the UK wanted the Conservatives in power, and as the majority did not want them they should not be elected.  Which is odd since UK politics works with the party who win the most seats gets in power, so if only a handful had voted for them they would not be in power. Ignoring that, the next load of shouting was how the Conservatives had destroyed the county, the healthcare, everything, and that we needed Labour in power to fix all the things the Conservatives had broken. Err, lets look at the facts. 2015 was the 1st Conservative government in the UK since 1997. So thats 18 year. 14 of those years were under a Labour Government, and the last 4 under an ineffectual coalition (coalitions never work when both parties have vastly different views).

Now I am not saying the Conservatives are the best, or perfect. But since our healthcare, infrastructure, and welfare has been failing for many years now it seems insane to blame a group of people who have been in power for less than a year, its more likely that they inherited the mess the country is in. Yes we are in a state. No Labour is not the solution. the 14 years they were in power proved that. We did not get into the state we are in over night.  Give the other party a chance, you may not agree with them, but you should give them a chance, and not instantly scream for the previous guys back in, when all evidence seems to point to them breaking everything to start with.

I have considered the new people I have met this year, from Masonic Orders, The Widows Son’s, and online and while I have met a few interesting, and decent people there are none that jump out as “The Best” So I am going to go all sentimental, and say Callum “the littlest” Maguire.

A valuable life lesson I learned this year?.

Well I never thought I could write None-Fiction, I have published fictional stories, and while the majority of this blog is None-Fiction it is of a more comical and insane area than actual factual none-fiction. After writing four academic papers, that did not get laughed at, or pulled apart by my peers, and that a couple of them I actually liked, I have realised that if I put the work into research, I can actually write None-Fiction. Also, when you stop procrastinating and force yourself to actually do something, you can actually enjoy yourself.
